Bright Bold and Beautiful: The Zhush

Sue of The Zhush is the next host in my BB&B guest post series,
"What is bright, bold, and beautiful to you?" Thank you Sue!
I love the idea of breaking down the name of Laura's lovely blog: Bright, Bold & Beautiful. I had to narrow down my definitions of these words as my ideas on the subject seemed to go on and on...here are my favorites:
Bright:
A bright idea and a great way to brighten up an interior and even any mood, is to add elements of family life to a space. Whether it be children's artwork, portraits, a family tree or even a framed letter from a loved one, rooms with a personal touch in this manner always seem "brighter" to me.

Bold:
Jewel tones speak to me...and purple practically screams my name. This royal hue always captures my attention and my imagination in a bold way...
wherever and however I see it.

Beautiful:
The health, happiness and well being of my family is not only a priority, but a beautiful thing. Teaching my children that time spent together is valuable and showing them the beauty in life while doing it, for me, is perfection. I love pointing out beauty in nature as well as "man made" beauty to their young eyes wherever I find it.

Bright Bold and Beautiful: Flourish Design and Style

Sarah of Flourish Design and Style is the next host in my BB&B guest post series,
"What is bright, bold, and beautiful to you?" Thank you, Sarah!

Bright Bold and Beautiful, oh the things that come to mind. For me it’s simple.. doing what I love, being with those I love, and being surrounded by things I love.
Bright- I adore white and cream, even better is a mix of the two..then take a bold orange and add that to a neutral mix, stunning. Hints of vintage beauty add a generous but subtle dose of bright color, and white done right
is perfection on Reese.

Bright Interior
Bright and Sunny
Bold- Bold is color, bold is scale, and bold is what you love done well.. and if you’re going to do one thing well, aren’t Diane Bergeron’s bookshelves an amazing example? An oversized drum pendant demands attention, and a wonderful striped floor is quietly bold.
Bold Interiors
Bold Interior Kitchen
Beautiful- I love light rooms, but a little dose of color is key. A hint of pink here, a mix of tones there. Kids rooms are so important.. especially when they are put together so well. Mixing patterns is an art, but boy, when pulled off properly,
what fun!

Bright Bold and Beautiful: La Dolce Vita

Paloma of La Dolce Vita is the next host in my BB&B guest post series,
"What is bright, bold, and beautiful to you?" Thank you, Paloma!
Thank you, Laura for asking me to be a part of this inspiring series! Putting this post together was so fun, but it turned out to be a little more challenging than I had imagined. It was so difficult to narrow it down to just a few images! I hope you’ll be as inspired by them as I am.
{To me, a bright room is one that feels inviting and is filled with a positive energy. This room by Miles Redd is absolutely, but it is not completely unpretentious. Can you imagine a brighter, more cheerful space?}
{Sara Ruffin Costello’s beautiful dining room is both bright and beautiful. It seems like the perfect place to get energized and it’s just so chic!}

{In my opinion, one of the boldest, most beautiful things in life is the ability to laugh at oneself. We shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously! Whatever the reason, laughter really is the best medicine and should be done on a daily basis.}
{The work of one of my favorite designers, Lázaro Rosa Violán is the definition of bold. This visionary designer from Barcelona mixes vintage pieces with furniture and art that he has created perfectly. While in Barcelona, I had the opportunity to meet him and see his amazing studio in person.

{In my opinion, few things are as thrilling, enriching, inspiring, or cathartic as travel. Going to a place that is foreign for you, different from where you live, allows you to grow on a multitude of levels. It is fascinating to be in the midst of a different culture, surrounded by beautiful architecture, meeting new people, and reveling in the sights, tastes, and sounds. Travel is quite possibly the thing from which I draw the most inspiration in my life, whether I am going to a place that is new to me (we just returned from Barcelona) or revisiting a place that I know and love, like New York or San Francisco.}

{The ongoing search for inspiration that we face in our daily lives is quite beautiful, in my opinion. It forces us to take a second look, to observe things we might not have otherwise noticed, but the best is when inspiration finds us. The way we feel when we have stumbled upon something new and inspiring is truly fabulous!}

Bright Bold and Beautiful: Haven and Home

Marianne of Haven and Home is the next host in my BB&B guest post series,
"What is bright, bold, and beautiful to you?" Thank you Marianne!

Hi BBB Readers! I look at so many beautiful images, rooms, objects, etc. a day that when I sat down to write this I had to think for a second. However, I think the following things will always be bright, bold and beautiful to me.....
Bright- While I love neutral spaces I LOVE color in homes. I think it takes more skill and thought to use color well, but if done right the results are exciting to the eyes and stimulating to the brain.

Bold- When looking at rooms that I am drawn to, there tends to be one element that really makes it special. It could a statement making piece of art....
blog3
or a playful pattern that separates the space from the rest...
blog4
Beautiful- To me beautiful is anything that really looks loved and lived in. These images make me feel like I could know the owner of the homes and I am getting to peek into an intimate space...

The words "bright, bold and beautiful" immediately make me think of Vivienne Westwood! She's one of my top style icons and I've been a fan for decades. Aside from her talent as a designer, she's always original and authentic, all the things that I find bright, bold and beautiful!

Bright Bold and Beautiful: Bon Bon Rose Girls

Megan of Bon Bon Rose Girls is the next host in my BB&B guest post series,
"What is bright, bold, and beautiful to you?" Thank you Megan!
Like Laura, who we all know and adore, I’m all about living a fun and vibrant lifestyle. One way I achieve this is by filling my life with friends and events that I entertain for. Having a full house of guests over for dinner and parties is when I’m truly at my happiest, and over the past few years I’ve developed some tricks to get the party started and keep it that way. After all no one likes a dull dinner party!
blog2

1) Before guests arrive put the appetizers and munchies in the room you want people to congregate in. It never fails that people always want to hang in the kitchen. However, for the head chef (that’s me!) it can be a stressful to have too many people staring me down while I chop! Instead put out a little bowl of nuts (I’m personally obsessed with these honey roasted almonds), crackers and cheese (two thumbs up on Manchengo cheese, it’s a total crowd pleaser) and some drinks on the coffee table. People will naturally wander to where the food is and start talking. Fingers crossed, this should leave you with less of a crowd watching while you put the final touches on dinner. Dessert

2) If you’re preparing a more complicated main course why not do a dessert that is simple and can be made the day or morning before? This will mean less chaos for you, especially after a few glasses of vino. Also, its makes the whole evening more approachable and fun for guests. We all know what a whiz you are in the kitchen, so serving something like brownie sundaes or an apple pie lets everyone kick back and relax after a great meal. This ridiculously easy ice cream crispie cake is a summer hit and takes 10 minutes. Given its simplicity it makes me laugh as people devour it, but hey, whatever works!

blog1

3) Set your table the night before. If you’re having a seated dinner party you simply must trust me on this. I’ve failed on several occasions big time in this department. The morning of a party I’m always out running last minute errands (Whole Foods, liquor store, etc.) and then it’s off to the kitchen, so that the table is often the last thing to get my attention. By setting the table the night before, you guarantee that you won’t be handing out forks at the last minute.

Of course the last tip comes straight from good ol’ Bridget Jones and her blue soup. Have a great attitude! Pile the dishes to the side, grab a glass of vino and relax. After all they are friends for a reason, if the chicken is scorched and you have to order a pizza, laugh about it and no one will care. They are here to see you and have a fun evening, not judge you on your coco au vin!

Bright Bold and Beautiful: Made by Girl

Jen of Made by Girl is the next host in my BB&B guest post series,
"What is bright, bold, and beautiful to you?" Thank you Jen!

What is bright, bold and beautiful?
I love the idea of having all these images of these bright and beautiful spaces on my hard drive. These particular images represent bright, bold and beautiful to me.....they are attractive & each one of the homes or spaces reveals a unique style.

Most of the time, I keep images like these as motivational tools to keep striving ahead...so one day I may be able to decorate my home in a similar way.

It all comes down to inspiration..... and to one day be surrounded by

bright, bold and beautiful decor.
